Capestrano, Italy is a small community of fewer than 1,000 residents about 90 miles east of Rome.  It is a perfect spot for visitors to get away from the crowded streets of Rome for the day.

The Castello Piccolomini:

The Castello Piccolomini was built in the 13th century to replace a medieval fort.  The central tower of the Castle is all that remains of the fort.  Several families modified the building over the years.  The current structure was completed in 1465.
